Apolline Is Six Today!

Today is Apolline's birthday and she can now ride a two wheel bike all by herself!!
Now, how fantastic is that!

Apolline loves the movie, Frozen. I think genetics, in part, explains it because her Daddy was born in Canada and sometimes, in the winter, her Canadian grandparents' property looks just like Winterfell!!! Apolline should come back to Canada in the winter to play in the snow and in the summer, she should come and attend the Mermaid School in Dartmouth, because her Mummy is a mermaid.

This poem by A.A. Milne is perfect for Apollline's sixth birthday:

When I was one,

I had just begun.

When I was two,

 I was nearly new.

 When I was three,

 I was hardly me.

 When I was four,
 I was not much more.

 When I was five,

 I was just alive.

 But now I am six,
 I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I'll be six now and forever.

Happy Birthday, Apolline!

Our French Mermaid

The Mermaid by John William Waterhouse

Today is Isabelle's birthday. Isabelle is the French siren who lured our young Canadian lad across the ocean to France. We don't blame her - for what man can resist the siren's call??

It was Movita who first called her the Mermaid and it is an apt label. I came upon a quote that describes Isabelle perfectly:

“I must be a mermaid, Rango. I have no fear of depths and a great fear of shallow living.”
Anaïs Nin

Isabelle firmly believes in travel, learning, and living life fully. She loves the sea. We appreciate all that she has brought to our family and we hope the next year of her life will be very fruitful and full.

Happy Birthday, Isabelle!
