Today is Sophie's birthday.
In France, Sophie is, no doubt, eating outside after bike riding and walking the beach. Alas!
We awoke today to 10 cm of fresh, white snow. And though looks like a beautiful winter wonderland, unlike Sophie, we won't be watching the flowers break ground for a long time to come.
Sophie is one of the most competent, capable women I have ever met. She can ski, swim, bike, sew, knit, organize, cook amazing meals for a crowd on short notice, mentor the next generation, and emanate an all embracing warmth wherever she goes.
I have had sport weight wool yarn stored in glass jars in the basement family room for over seven years now! I bought a large number of balls at a great discount when a yarn store in Dartmouth went out of business. This year, I am determined to finally put this yarn to good use and make as many pairs of mittens as I possibly can in 2016 - my Year of the Mitten.
