I am a great admirer of Nancy Bush and I have all her sock books. She has done a tremendous amount of research over the years on traditional folk knitting around the world. Her patterns are detailed, well written, well photographed, and supremely trustworthy!
This is the first time I have knit a round toe and a Dutch heel. Nancy's sock has the heel flap and heel turn done in stocking stitch but I used a Knit1,Slip1 for both. The only other modification was to cast on 64 stitches instead of 72.

Are you sure that Nora doesn't need a Godmother or special aunt to add to her family tree?
I love the sock!! I don't understand what you wrote about the pattern (you say round toe and I don't even see a toe. That's how bad I am at knitting!) but that doesn't stop me from really liking the sock. And the green! I want to see some green, I'm tired of winter already :-)
The photograph of the sock pre-dates the description of the sock's progress. And this is why we value Isabelle so much in our family. She has a keen eye. In the process of making decisions, it is always wise to run a situation past Isabelle first. For instance, we often moon over real estate listings but do not do so much as a drive-by until we have forwarded the ad to Isa, who analyses the description and sends us her critique, so often pointing out what we should have noticed ourselves. We are still in this house. Thank God for Isa.
Melissa is now officially Nora's Fairy Godmother. Lucky Nora.
I'm a Fairy Godmother! I'm so excited. That means I get to send holiday presents, birthday gifts and generally spoil the little lady, all the while waving a pink magic wand!
